America voted and here are your top 13...huh? We all thought that American
Idol had previously announced that there were to be twelve finalists for America
to choose from. In a surprise announcement during Thursday night's
wildcard elimination Simon announced that there were in fact going to be
13. So here they are, the top 13 finalist.
- Adam Lambert, 26 from Los Angeles, California. Adam plans to perform more
rock, and also pop and electronic music as Season 8 continues.
- Allison Iraheta, 16 from Los Angeles, California who's edgy vocals on
"Alone" by the group Heart made the judges take notice. She acknowledged her
life will change in "every single way" as a result of being selected.
- Jorge Nunez, 20 from Carolina, Puerto Rico revealed his passion after
learning he had made the final round. Jorge said that Marc Anthony and
Jennifer Lopez are even more popular in Puerto Rico than they are here, so his
thrill is most certainly warranted.
- Danny Gokey, 28 from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has got an amazing story of grief
and certainly seems to have favor with America. There is strong sincerity in his
voice when he says that he's "so excited" to have this "opportunity of a
lifetime".
- Michael Sarver, 27 from Jasper, Texas, hopes to put his oil rig roughneck
days behind him in his pursuit to make a better life for his wife and two young
children.
- Alexis Grace, 21 from Memphis, Tennessee, says her inspiration during
the competition is her daughter. "Every day when I wake up I think of her".
- Scott MacIntyre, 23 from Scottsdale, Arizona is a judge favorite. Who
can argue with the inspiration and heart he has revealed in his piano playing
and great vocals.
- Kris Allen, 23 from Conway, Arkansas is planning to "stay the same" in his
efforts to get America's vote. Kris Michael Jackson’s song ‘Man in the
Mirror" that was not received well by the judges his fans must have liked it.
- Lil Rounds, 23 from Memphis Tennessee sees her driving force as her three
children. Lil is being touted as the "one to beat" as she is celebrated as
the next potential "American Idol".
- Jasmine Murray, 16 from Starkville, Minnesota is mature beyond her
years. Could be the influence of her sisters, but rest assured she plans to make
a career of singing.
- Megan Corkrey, 22 from Sandy, Utah plans to "do what I do" and hope America
likes it! Megan is thrilled and feeling happy about her second chance at
her dream.
- Matt Giraud, 23 from Kalamazoo, Michigan. Matt was completely
"surprised" and "grateful" when he was selected as a wildcard selection even
though he was standing next to Anoop - how could this be?
- Anoop Desai, 21 from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He had quite a shock
standing next to Matt as they awaited the news of who would fill the 12th
spot. He is going to strive show America what the judges saw in him that
caused the relaxing of the rules to keep him around. "Anoop-dog is in the
house!"
